[Scarlet]

Scarlet would have been quite content to stay right where she was, but she knew they couldn't stay like this forever. Scarlet gently pulled out of the embrace, but still held onto Firestripe's paw. She smiled one of her dazzling smiles at Firestripe.
She thought nobeast could be nearly as happy as she was right that moment. She had finally let all the barriers drop and admitted she was totally and helplessly in love with Firestripe. She was slightly shaken by the revelation, but mostly she just felt an overwhelming wave of joy. She realized that her new weapon was still laying bare in her paw. Unwinding her paw from Firestripe's, she sheathed it in its case, and deftly hooked it to her belt. "Thanks, again." She said, still more than a little surprised at the gorgeous blade she had just received. She would never had expected that Firestripe would lavish her with such a beautiful, expensive, and extremely handy gift.

[Firestripe]

*Firestripe laughed slightly at the simple thanks that was said by Scarlet after such an emotional moment. He just found it a bit humorous.* "It was my pleasure." *He said with a huge smile seemingly glued across his features. Indeed, he had been quite happy to show such appreciation to one that he loved so dearly.* "Whadya say we go to the tavern for a few drinks or something?" *He asked while gesturing in the general direction of the tavern casually, for casual is what it was meant to be. Well, as casual as it can get in a place like Loamsdown. He himself didn't have anything else to do or get while in port for he was still in the process of rebuilding his cache of money. Even so, he could spare a bit for drinks and the idea of accompanying Scarlet while doing so only made the idea sound even better. Really, who else better to spend some time with over a few drinks than her? None as far as Firestripe could figure.*

[Scarlet]

" A drink sounds really good." Scarlet agreed and, entwining her paw with his, she headed that way. Suddenly, Scarlet had an overwhelming urge to lean up and kiss Firestripe. But of course, she couldn't do that; He was far too tall for her to reach his face. Trying to get her mind off the strange feeling, she said " So, what have you been up to, besides being the perfect gentleman?" She smiled at him, her head arced back just so that she could see his face. Though she was tall for a fox, she always had to tilt her head back to look up Firestripe. That was one of the many things she admired about him, his height. Besides the fact that he was amazingly handsome for a fox.

[Firestripe]

*Firestripe had to laugh at that one, as if he was anything close to a gentlebeast.* "Well, I don't know much about being a gentleman, much less a perfect one, but not much besides getting that blade and then trying to find you." *Firestripe said as he looked down at Scarlet, as he normally had to do. Quite unexpectedly, he leaned down and kissed her, holding it for an extended moment before breaking off. He wasn't real sure what had compelled him to do so, but he had indeed done so. As he started to stand back up straight, the sun caught his eyes in just the right way, as it did every once in a lonesome while, and made them flash a brilliant gold for a second before they returned to their normal color. This was something that happened occasionally for there where flecks of gold interspersed within his irises that were not all that noticeable until the sun caught them just right. He didn't notice it but Scarlet was sure to seeing as how he was looking her straight in the eyes when it had happened.*

[Scarlet]

Scarlet welcomed the unexpected kiss, holding it for as long as possible. A smug voice in the back of her mind told her that she shouldn't be surprised, since she always got what she wanted, but she was anyway. After they stopped kissing, Scarlet looked up into Firestripe's eyes, catching the few seconds when his eyes were suddenly turned gold. "Wow..." she breathed. Even though Firestripe had been with her as her First-mate on the Nightpearl since the beginning, Scarlet had never witnessed one of these rare moments when his eyes turned gold. She was shocked and awed all at once. His eyes were so mysterious to her, deep and thoughtful. She would have felt a very rich fox even if she had no gold, because Firestripe was all hers, mysteries and all. That thought gave her yet another shock. She suddenly felt as if she couldn't take any more shocks that day.
"Any other surprises?" She asked, laughing a little. Then she was aware that he wouldn't know exactly what she was talking about.
"Your eyes turned gold for a bit there. I never knew that they could do that.. It was a beautiful sight..." She said, smiling.

[Firestripe]

"Wha- oh..." *He started and then laughed yet again, he seemed to be in quite the laughing mood today.* "Yeah, that doesn't happen too often... I guess it's just when the sun catches them right... or when I'm happier than anybeast has the right to be." *He said with a soft smile as he continued to gaze down at Scarlet, making sure that they weren't running into anything in their path by watching out of the corner of his eye. They were starting to get near the tavern, in fact, he thought he could see it just down the street though it was hard to tell out of the corner of his eye. He could have just turned his head and looked fully and been able to tell but why in the world would he want to do that when he had a creature like Scarlet to gaze at and be gazed at by?*

[Scarlet]

Scarlet continued gazing into Firestripe's eyes as well, her sensitive forepaws nimbly skipping over any obstacles they encountered. Anybeast who passed them, she noticed, stared at them in wonder. Indeed, it must be strange to see a huge black fox staring into the eyes of a slim figured scarlet red vixen, and she staring back at him. Amazingly of all, they didn't run into anything or trip over anything as they made thier way towards the Tavern. Only when they got to the door did Scarlet avert her eyes from Firestripe's. " Ah, here we are." She said, stating the obvious as if Firestripe were blind or something. She was wierd like that sometimes.

[Firestripe]

"Indeed we are." *Firestripe said, not caring that Scarlet had stated the obvious. It was one of those little things that Scarlet did that Firestripe just loved about her. He opened the door for her and made an elegant bow that he was rather good at for reasons he was not so sure of.* "After you, m'lady." *He said, continuing to play off what Scarlet had said earlier about him being a 'gentleman' of all things. Just because, in actual reality, he was far from it being a pirate and all he was rather good at imitating it so much so that he could most definitely pass as a gentleman in most any situation. Even so, he rarely did imitate it mainly because there was no place for that on a pirate ship. This was one of those rare occasions that he was able to show off just how much he actually did know about being formal. In all actuality, he knew alot about how non-pirate, non-vermin creatures acted and how formal they could sometimes get. This was just one of those mysteries about Firestripe that would likely stay a mystery because even Firestripe himself was not so sure as to why he knew so much about the subject. What did it matter though? It was all for Scarlet's benefit anyways; well, at least in this case it was.*

[Scarlet]

Scarlet smiled, but was reluctant to play along as she was unused to such mannerly talk and such. " I like you better as your pirate self..." She said, looking at him with a pondering expression. Then, quite unexpectedly, she took his arm and tugged him into the tavern after her. Inside it was dark, the windows fogged from the chill that crept up to them. To her right was a large area completely filled with tables and chairs and an assortment of vermin from along the coast. To her left was a long bar that stretched the full length of the room, and behind it severel bartenders were bustling about to fill glasses with more liquer. Scarlet sat down at one of a pair of empty barstools that were side by side. The barstools were quite wide and comfortable; They had cushiony seats, but they were pretty flat and worn from use. Scarlet motioned for Firestripe to sit in the empty stool beside herself.

[Firestripe]

*Firestripe just laughed as he allowed himself to be pulled indoors by the much smaller Scarlet. He had expected a reaction along those lines, minus the dragging him into the tavern part. After having let her done so he took a moment for his eyes to adjust to the darkness of the tavern before taking the seat next to Scarlet, as she had motioned for him to do. The barstool wobbled as Firestripe set his very heavy weight upon it.* "So, you only like the pirate me, huh?" *He asked with a smile and in a not so serious tone because it didn't really matter to him whether she liked the formal stuff or not, that was all just for kicks anyways. Seemingly the bartenders were busy because none had come over immediately as they usually did. Well, fairly usually at least. Firestripe was probably just gonna get some ale or something like that and he figured Scarlet would too unless she felt like trying some exotic liqueur though that would be rather unexpected because she had never seemed to be a hardcore drinker though she did sometimes join in on drinking contests. But then again, everybeast did that, even Firestripe on occasion who was very very far from a heavy drinker.*
