*The nervous demeaner that Jaazer had was not false, nor fake. After having been turned down the night before, he had followed the pair at a distance to see which ship they were heading to. He couldn't give up, wouldn't give up. He had no choice. Even so, he wasn't a brave soul, just determined.* "Well, er, m'am, I kinda followed ya and your pal back to this ship last night... I wasn't kiddin when I said I didn't know where I was gonna go and well, uh, I don't really have any ties keepin' me here so I was just, uh... just kinda wonderin' if you would, er, would... maybe let me kinda, uh, join your crew...? I can be helpfull in a fight and I can do whatever chores or the such onboard to earn my keep. I... I just need somewhere to call home..." *He finally finished, trying to play to the captains more womanly, maternal side if she did indeed have one. With downcast eyes and nervous demeanor, he looked the picture of a lost child in need of help. What he said about the fighting, though, was true, he was fairly well versed at paw to paw combat, even if the other beast had a weapon. He just desperately hoped that the Captain would accept and not throw him out or worse...*

Scarlet looked at Jaazar, her heart softening. 'E's so young, tha poor thing... She thought, eyes full of pity. But how was she going to make it look like she wasn't taking pity on him, even though she was? If the crew knew that she had a soft spot, she'd never hear the end of it and she'd lose some respect too. And besides, was the poor creature even worth the trouble? Sure, she had pity on him and wanted to help him, but was it worth it? What if he turned out to be totally useless?
" Well," Scarlet started, tone a bit hard, " What can you do? You need to prove to me that'll you'll be worth the trouble, or else I've no choice but to turn you back out onto the streets. Come on then, show me what you can do when in a fight!" She demanded, drawing her dagger. The boy was no match against Scarlet, for sure, but this would be a good test for him. A dangerous smile played upon her lips, eyes sparkling. " Well then?" She positioned herself in a defensive pose, dagger held at the ready.

*Jaazer didn't like the situation he was in one bit. The captain suddenly deciding to test his fighting skills out of the blue while she was armed and he was not. All was not bad though, despite his young age, Jaazer was a well experienced un-armed fighter and had actually recieved training in the art of paw to paw combat. He would have to be carefull, though, for he was not fighting an un-armed oponnent this time, and he didn't have the element of surprise on his side. Most of his skills were better put to use in the kinds of fights where he was part of a larger group going aganst another larger group. Then he could catch enemies by surprise and quickly remove them from the fight. He would just have to adapt, though, as he had been told many many times. His training was probably one of the reasons that he'd been chosen for this mission, Jaazer realized, that and the fact that he was so young and looked so innocent that it would probably throw other beasts off.*
*Jaazer had a surprised look on his face to try and use what little surprise he could squeeze out of the situation. He went straight from a frozen by surprise stance into leaping backwards, vaulting off the wall behind him into a front flip and kicking out his right leg at thesam time, which would make use of the combined force of the spin and the strength of his kick, all focused on the top of the captains head if it were to hit. This complete move had been done lightning fast and the captain would have to have very good reflexes to avoid this inpromptu surprise attack.*
OOC: As I was saying before the internet cut out on us for a few days, Jaazer isn't a push over in a fight. And I'm not just trying to make a character that is unrealisticly strong and skilled for his age for no reason, there has to be a reason why he was chosen for the job he was chosen for, and that's the reason!

Scarlet hadn't expected the young ferret to be quite so quick. Despite his agility and quickly planned attack, Scarlet was very fast herself, with more than five more years of experience than Jaazer. Fleet of foot and sharp of mind, Scarlet narrowly dodged the oncoming kick, attempting to deal the ferret a smart blow to the back with her dagger-free fist as he continued his assault straight to the deck.
Quickly, Scarlet stabalized herself, footpaws spread, arms tense and ready, her keen eyes taking in Jaazer's every move.

*Gotcha Jaazer thought to himself. He had purposefully performed a move that, if failed, would leave a huge opening and the captain, being the experienced fighter that she was, knew to take advantage of such an opening, just as he had planned. Jaazer saw fighting in almost the same was as chess, there are numerous moves to make and numerous pieces to use and many tricks to lure your opponent into a trap. He had let that opening happen so that he could draw the captain into an expected attack. Jaazer landed his kick in a crouch, as he had planned to from the beginning, and he ducked his body low to avoid the inevitable attack. He was partially surprised that she had used her dagger free paw but that fact didn't change Jaazer's next move.*
*As he crouched low, he balled up his paw into a fist and quickly uncrouched and turned his torso towards Scarlet with his fist following quickly, bringing a powerful amount of force behind the punch. He was aiming for the captains stomach because a punch to the head was simply to easy to dodge, all she would have to do is flick her head to the side. To avoid this, though, she would have to move her whole body. Something that would take much longer to do. Even at a time like this, Jaazer saw this like chess, numerous moves to make, plans to follow, traps to set and dangers to avoid.*
*Since Scarlet was still armed, Jaazer couldn't stay in close quarters for long and he knew that. As his punch reached the point it was aimed at, he started to move away from the captain. He did this so that whether or not the punch landed, he would already be in movement to avoid her next attack. This was all simply part of his training, though, and not something that he had to think about. It was all natural to him, his body moved on it's own, remembering reflexes that had been implanted into him through trial and hardship.*
OOC: Yeah, it's been forever since I got a chance to post, I know... I really hope that I'll get more time in the future. I'll certainly try my hardest to do what I can!

Scarlet was too well versed in the technique of paw to paw combat, and she saw Jaazar's attack coming before he even drew back his paw to punch her forcefully in the stomach. She started moving over to Jaazar's left, narrowly dodging the blow that was aimed for her stomach. Jaazar was already re-positioning himself, and so did Scarlet. She quickly took a few steps back, trying to get some space between them.
Her dagger was hot in her paw as she readjusted it; This time, she would use it.

By this point, Jaazer had fully entered his fighting mode. He no longer thought of being surprised or excited. He no longer had conscious thoughts, he was running purely on instinct and this instinct of his had a powerful weapon to be put to use, himself. Though he no longer had conscious thought, his instincts were fueled by his base emotions. His fear, his excitement, his determination, all of these formed a flame that burned brightly in his chest and shown in his eyes. Though his face was devoid of emotion, the fire that had been ignited within him radiated brightly in his light brown pupils which gazed at the Captain, past the Captain, around the Captain. His fiery orbs grew unfocused as if he was looking at some far off object; they gazed at nothing yet everything. Jaazer's instincts put his body in a powerful stance, ready for anything that might come his way.*

Now, Scarlet and Jaazar were directly facing eachother. Seeing as how Jaazar was waiting for her next move, she decided to do the obvious; She made a jab at him with her dagger-paw, her mind sinking deeper into fight-mode.

*Jaazer grabbed Scarlet's arm with his right paw as he twisted and spun on his right footpaw, bringing his left leg swinging around towards Scarlet's head. The kick alone would usually leave him wide open to a counter attack as it was a fairly easy to read move, but then again, this kick wasn't alone. As he spun around he kept his right paw viced to the Captain's dagger arm, keeping her in a somewhat awkward position and unable to very effectively lash out in response. He instinctively knew that it was best to try and keep her dagger as out of commission as possible during his strikes so this was the current, effective, solution that his body came up with.* OOC: There was a move that he could've done that would possibly break Scarlet's arm but I thought that doing something like that would be a tad unfair.

As Jaazer's foot was coming towards her head, Scarlet had to think quickly what she could do. Analyzing the situation she ducked her head as low as she could while he was holding on to her arm with a death grip, and lifted her left arm up, attempting to block the blow. As Jaazer's foot connected with her forearm, she guided it away from her face, the sinews of her arm muscles bulging. Successfully warding the blow, she quickly took her left paw and brought it down hard on Jaazer's wrist, breaking free of his grip.
