It wasn't very often that the Nightpearl ventured down River Moss. Sky, being to new to the crew, didn't know much except that they were looking for a map piece and that he had orders to kill Captain Scarlet Rose Nightshadow when they found it.
Before he had signed up to be aboard the pirate ship, he had heard rumours about the Captain, and about a particular rat that hated her. This rat, Bloodfang, was a greedy, evil person. He hoarded the gold that he pillaged from villages and mercenary ships, protecting it with his vast army-like crew of misfit feral creatures, armed to the tooth. He too, just as Scarlet, hunted for the map pieces, the tales of vast riches drawing him in like a fly to honey. This is why he hates Scarlet so, for she was his only real competition for the treasures of Redwall.
It had taken days to finally find Bloodfang, and when he did the rat captain was more than pleased to hire him for the kill. With Scarlet out of the way and her map pieces in his paws, he was two steps closer to unending riches.
And so it was that they were following clues that pointed toward another map piece.
