Khana walked down the streets of Loamsdown, keeping a weary eye on everyone he passed. It's not like he had much to steal, but what he did have was all he had left. He had been to Loamsdown before, and knew it's purpose, but he was desperate. He hadn't had a paid job in a while. He knew that if nothing else, he would find work here. But he didn't know what kind of work it would be. Pirates roamed here, and he felt uncomfortable as he continued to walk. "Come on, quit worrying," he told himself, "This is so you can eat, you idiot, so stop worrying!" His attention averted, he continued down the street.

Ah...Loamsdown...a filth filled ditch...a good place to find crewmates. The Pirates? No...they were disposable...They would only last a week or so...half of them didn't even know how to use a sword properly anyway. These were not the beast the Skipper of Sea Otters was looking for...no...The Skipper was looking for beast that had nothing to to live for...nothing really to go back to. Beast that fought without a fear of loosing anything if they died...these beast fought the hardest and were more likely to stay alive. The beast that thought they knew how to fight only ended up dieing thinking they were invincible. Pathetic...You could still use em...some might make it past a week....but the Skipper only accepted them if he knew he would need more numbers for a fight...
Today the Skipper, wasn't looking for pirates...he was looking for the other type...the kind that had nothing left to loose...He was short on numbers and needed more. More to last. Plus he was short a deckhand so he needed someone that would be of use if the ship needed work. The Skipper Walked through the streets, his footpaws slapping the wet ground due to the rain that had just started. He had left his cloak onboard the ship. He hardly wore it except when he needed to hide....which hardly ever needed to do. Most were smart enough not to give him reason. If he hid, he would eventually show up...and when he did...he wouldn't be happy... There were several beast about...but none of them looked worthy or fit enough as to leave loamsdown.
But...whats this? An otter? A young one...and in Loamsdown. More than likely he knew how to fight and he would be agile enough to be taught if he didn't. This one looked promising... The Skipper bent down picked up a rock. He felt of the weight in his paws before he tossed it at the beast hitting him in the back of the head. He crossed his arms and grinned waiting for the beast to turn around.

*Thwop* Khana missed a step when he was hit with something. Not particularly hard, but enough to irritate him. He slowly turned, and was a little dispirited when he saw the big otter standing there, arms crossed, a grin spreading across his face. Khana sighed. Just keep walking. JUST KEEP WALKING. But despite his own warning he began walking over to the bigger otter. "Can I help you with something," he said with a scowl, trying not to get his head knocked in.

The Skipper changed emotions from humored to interrogative. "Can ya' fight or fix a ship in tha' heat of battle?" he asked plainly. What better way to find out something you want to know than to just come right out and ask. If the answer was yes then he would have to know more about him. Would be useless to get him onboard not knowing about him then when he needed him the most him getting killed almost immediately. He would need to know if he worth protecting or not.
No need to mention anything about pay yet...or who he was for that matter. Some beast simply agree and approve themselves on anything once they hear about the pay they'll say anything to get the job. Luckily if they lied and died the Skip got to keep more to dish out among the rest of the crew for when they hit land. Truth is the crew hardly kept large portions for themselves...they had other uses for them....

Khana hesitated. A fight with this much older, and probably much more experienced otter was not something he wanted. "Yeah, I know how to fight," he said. He put his paw on the dagger on the back part of his back. "I'm much better with this, but..." he then moved his paw to the long sword on his left side. "I've been practicing more with this..." Whoo, made it through without a snide comment. Then he crossed his own arms. "And as far as ships go, I know quite a bit. My father built 'em by trade. Grew up around 'em and he wanted me to follow his pawsteps, but I wanted something other than that for myself." He hadn't meant for it to sound so hurtful, after all, he loved his parents, but he just had never seen eye to eye with them... OOC: Sorry! Made some spelling errors.

"I'm much better with this, but...I've been practicing more with this..."
Meh'...he was a little of both...The young otter had a slight, almost unsensable attitude about him...it wasn't much but he could tell the otter was slightly uncomfortable...perfect...
"And as far as ships go, I know quite a bit. My father built 'em by trade. Grew up around 'em and he wanted me to follow his pawsteps, but I wanted something other than that for myself."
Well it was promising. He would at least be able to help fix the ship back up if they were ever attacked again...but would he be able to stay alive doing it....? "Well... you may be able to fix a ship...but if you can't stay alive doing it then your of no use to me...." He drew his twin Cutlasses from his back sheaths and held them ready for the lad to attack. "Draw your weapon otherwise you'll have nothing to stop mine and I can tell ya' I wont stop..." he said glaring at the otter in the eyes.

Khana closed his eyes and sighed. Despite his want to avoid a fight, it was obviously happening anyway. He opened his eyes and looked at his opponent, judging him. There was no way he could beat him in strength, the older otter was too burly. But he had a chance if he concentrated on speed. The largest concern however were the twin cutlasses. He had never fought anyone that could wield two weapons at once, and he could tell it wasn't going to be easy. He drew his long sword from his right side, and putting his left footpaw behind him, to make a smaller target, his sword pointed at his opponent. Others in the street had backed away, realizing a fight was about to ensue, not wanting to get involved. Khana gritted his teeth, and lunged forward, his sword low, allowing for less resistance. As he closed the distance, he lifted his arm, the sword following in a quick upward arc.

As the young otter drew his sword, The Skipper was grinning on the inside. Not very confident or maybe just not wanting to fight. Which made this young otter all the better of a choice for his crew. The Skipper saw the sword swooping upwards at him. He crossed his cutlasses and pointed them downward catching the incoming swords at the v. Once they stuck he shot the ends into the ground pinning Khana's sword. The Skipper leaned on his left footpaw and kicked Khana in the chest with a great deal of force which would send him to the ground. He kicked the sword over to the otter. "Pick it up....Try again..."

Khana slowly stood, and shook his head. As he had thought, those cutlass were just as good a defense as and offense. He bent over picking up his sword, remaining weary of his stationary opponent. As he stood, he smiled. "Can I ask why you're not attacking? Cause I'm not someone to take lightly," he said as he did a flick with his wrist, the sword following right behind. "I may not be the best warrior out there, but not even trying is just insulting." He pointed his sword forward, the similar footpaw position, focusing on his opponent's chest. If he could maintain his focus on that spot, he should be able to predict the older otter's movements... In theory...

"Can I ask why you're not attacking? Cause I'm not someone to take lightly,"
The Skipper said nothing...but he was loving every moment of it. He was literally laughing to himself on the inside. There was nothing he liked better than a good fight. He especially liked it when the other continued talking. It showed they would result to insulting to attempt to throw off the other opponent to cause them to make poor decisions. A good warrior would ignore all the other would say.
He couldn't help but up the stakes for himself though. This was what made The Skipper reckless...but also Ingenious. He took a few steps closer to the young otter bringing the young otter's sword a foot from the Skipper's chest. The Skipper held his cutlasses at his side. One in a forward grip and the other in a backhanded grip. "Do it..." he said glaring into the otters eyes yet keeping his eyes receptive to the sword and how it would move.
